Norwood’s cyclists get into gear for Sri Lanka
Over 100 cycling enthusiasts saddled up for Norwood’s international bike ride in Sri Lanka in October, which raised an amazing £400,000 for the Charity. The eight-day adventure, which kicked off in the Island’s capital Colombo, covered a challenging 400km coast-to-coast route through bustling streets, foothills, mountain ranges, waterfalls and endless tea plantations.

Royal Parks runners raise £15,000 for Norwood
Twenty Norwood runners took part in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon yesterday, raising £15,000 for the Charity and its life-changing work. The group joined 12,500 other participants in the sunshine for the 13.1 mile route through Kensington Gardens, Green Park, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.

Almost 1,400 Cyclists Saddle Up to Raise £300,000 for Norwood and the Down’s Syndrome Association
Singer, Britain’s Got Talent judge and LA fitness Creative Director, Alesha Dixon waved off the first of almost 2,000 cyclists early yesterday morning at the start of the annual LA fitness Capital to Coast Cycle Ride for Charity, led by TV presenters Matt Barbet and Jeff Brazier.

Young supporters put the fun into fundraising for Norwood
On 10th June, with the rain at bay, Norwood hosted its first combined Junior Bike Ride, Toddlerthon and Fun Day, sponsored by cycle shop Giant Radlett. From tots to teens, over 450 cycling enthusiasts took part in either a 5 mile or 10 mile off-road adventure, while under fours also joined in the fun by taking part in a Toddlerthon. Fundraisers pound the pavements in aid of Norwood
Fundraisers supporting Norwood made the most of the sunshine on Sunday for the Norwood 10 Bridges walk. The 6.5 or 13-mile journey, starting near Vauxhall Bridge, and finishing beyond Tower Bridge, raised more than £15,000 for the Charity, which supports people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.

Norwood runners ramp up the pounds in the London Marathon
A group of 21 runners took to the Capital’s streets for the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April, in aid of Norwood. The event has so far raised an incredible £80.000 for the Charity, which supports people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.

20th Anniversary of Norwood Challenges

Israel Bike Riders raise £260,000 for Norwood
Some took the high road, and some took the low road, but the combined efforts of a group of 55 cyclists who rode through Israel in aid of Norwood has generated a wheely amazing £260,000. During the five-day adventure, which took place 19-27 November, 30 riders rode from Jerusalem to Eilat, while a further 25 opted for an extremely challenging north to south route through the land of milk and honey. The funds raised by both groups will go towards Norwood’s life-changing work with people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.

65 saddle up for Northern Thailand cycle adventure
65 cycling enthusiasts got into gear for Norwood’s international bike ride in Thailand, which has so far raised an incredible £250,000. The ten day adventure began amongst the towering silk cotton trees of Thailand’s second largest city, Chiang Mai, and finished at the infamous Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. During the ride, the group covered a 318km route through remote northern Thailand and explored areas beyond the usual tourist trail, travelling through breath-taking scenery comprising of dense jungle, emerald paddy fields, rapid rivers and tumbling waterfalls.

YN Croatian Challengers experience best of Balkans
A group of young cyclists experienced the best of the Balkans as they traversed picturesque Adriatic coastline over the Bank Holiday weekend to raise £32,000 for Norwood. The 27 fundraisers joined Norwood staff and several adults who use its services for a four-day bike ride and trek through southern Croatia.

Newlyweds honeymoon with Norwood to raise money on Kenya Bike Ride
120 brave cyclists took to the outback of east Africa for Norwood’s international bike ride in Kenya, which raised an incredible £400,000. The ride, which began in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and finished by the clear waters of the Indian Ocean in Mombasa, took the group through the breathtaking scenery of the area’s national parks, where they were able to get up close and personal with the local wildlife.

Kilimanjaro trekkers raise £100,000 for The Hope Centre
A group of 25 trekkers were on top of the world after raising £100,000 for The Hope Centre during a climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The Hope Centre based in Willesden, north-west London is a Norwood service for children and young people with special educational needs. Using a range of learning techniques, including a methodology pioneered by Professor Feuerstein, its teachers and therapists help students aged between three and 19 to learn in their own individual and creative ways. Hope also provides training for staff and parents.

Royal Parks runners raise £5,000 for Norwood
Norwood’s very own magnificent seven joined 12,500 other runners at the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon yesterday, raising £5,000 for the Charity and its life-changing work. The group enjoyed glorious sunshine as they completed the 13 mile run through some of London’s most beautiful green spaces. The route through Kensington Gardens, Green Park, Hyde Park and St James’s Park also took in superb views of Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Marble Arch and the Royal Albert Hall.

Joel and Martin gear up for Norwood’s Israel Bike Ride
A group of cyclists, including several tandem riders, are preparing to saddle up for a tour of some of the most beautiful and breathtaking scenery in the Holy Land, during Norwood’s upcoming Israel Bike Ride. The on and off road adventure between 6 and 14 November will begin with a tour of the historic fortress of Masada, before riders set off on a journey to the lowest point on Earth – the Dead Sea.

Anthony climbs back into the saddle for Kenya Bike Ride

Families get in gear to raise £35,000 at Norwood Junior Bike Ride
Dozens of dads set aside their slippers and Sunday papers on Father’s Day to saddle-up for Norwood’s annual Junior Bike Ride. They were among 340 people who took part in the 10-mile off-road adventure in Elstree yesterday, helping to raise £35,000 for the Charity’s work with people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.

YN Italian Challenge is just the job for Norwood
It was an Italian job well done for a team of 46 young cyclists who raised £45,000 for Norwood during a cycling tour of northern Italy. The inaugural YN Italian Challenge took the group on a four-day bike ride and trek through the hills of the picturesque Riccione province over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Candice makes a splash for Norwood
A kind-hearted schoolgirl who organised a swimathon in aid of Norwood has raised an amazing £9,000 for the Charity. Candice Tucker, 11, from St John’s Wood, invited 52 of her friends to take part in the fundraising event, which was kindly hosted by Francis Holland School in Clarence Gate. All the money raised at the swimathon, held on Sunday, 16 May, will help Norwood to continue providing a range of life-changing services for people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.

Fychi and Norwood team raise vital funds at Community Fun Run
A group of energetic fundraisers braved the heat yesterday to raise £1,000 for Norwood during the annual Community Fun Run. The 25 Norwood participants included 20-year-old Fychi Dresdner, who completed the course in a wheelchair pushed by her long-term foster mum Judy Meshulam.

Fundraisers walk the walk in aid of Norwood
Fundraisers of all ages and abilities braved the weather and put their best foot forward in aid of Norwood on Sunday during its annual Waterside Walk. The walk was held amid the lush surroundings of Windsor Great Park and raised more than £5,000 for the Charity, which supports people with learning disabilities and children and families in need. The group of around 40 walkers included people who live in Norwood’s supported living and residential homes in Berkshire, Redbridge and north-west London.
