Raising your sponsorship money may seem daunting; however, you will find plenty of tips and ideas in this section of the website or you can contact the Norwood Challenges experienced fundraising team, who will be happy to support you with fundraising advice, sponsorship materials and event ideas. Here are a few tips on how to maximise your sponsorship…
Setup a Fundrasing Page
Online fundraising is one of the quickest and safest ways to manage donations. Set up your own fundraising web page with Virgin Money Giving or Just Giving. Select your event and follow the instructions – it only takes a few minutes.
Share the link by email, Facebook and Twitter and watch the sponsorship money add up – it’s as easy as that!
Don't forget to try ask people who you think will be your biggest donors first! That way others are likely to give more
Please note that Virgin Money Giving take 2% and Just Giving 5% from each donation to cover administration costs.
If you prefer, you can use the sponsorship form.
In addition to posting your Virgin Money Giving link to your Facebook page, go one step further and set up a Facebook group or event with details of your Challenge and details of your Virgin Money Giving page so you can invite all your friends to sponsor you. After the event, you can post pictures of your Challenge for all your friends to see and remind people to sponsor you if they haven’t done so already.
Send the details of your challenge, our contact details and your Justgiving link as a personal email to relatives, friends, colleagues and contacts asking them to sponsor you. Ask your employer if you can include your Justgiving link to your email signature, so that everyone receiving your emails will be able to sponsor you.
If the internet’s not your thing, why not send a personal letter to your friends and family telling them about the Challenge you are undertaking and about Norwood. You will receive a suggested letter in your fundraising pack.
Hold a fundraising event to help raise sponsorship for your Challenge. Past events have included a garden party, a musical evening, a pampering day, a tequila themed club night, a belly dance workshop and more! Click here for guidance on organising an event.
Another really great way to help the charity is to ‘gift aid’ your donations. Norwood receives an extra 25% of every gift aided donation at no cost to you! For example if you donate £100, Norwood would receive £125. You can also gift aid previous donations to Norwood.Click here to complete the gift aid form.
Many employers will match the sponsorship you raise. Contact your HR department to find out whether they will do this and let us know!
Timing is everything! Don’t leave your fundraising until the last minute; give yourself enough time to raise all the sponsorship required. We ask to receive 80% of the minimum sponsorship before the event.
Remember to thank all your donors – you can send them an email, Facebook message or a letter with an image of you completing the Challenge and telling them how the event went. And remember – if you don’t ask you don’t get!
